Trailer Fumigation
Contain Infested Loads Before They Enter Your Facility
One infested trailer can compromise an entire warehouse. For warehouses, food processors, pet food manufacturers, flour mills, 3PL providers, and exporters, FSS performs professional semi-trailer fumigation with magnesium phosphide (phosphine) to achieve full life-stage control of stored product insects, isolating and eliminating infestations before product is unloaded, without exposing your whole facility to risk.
Fast, localized containment from stored-product specialists. Fumigating one enclosed trailer is a fraction of the cost of treating a warehouse, and FSS backs every job with full documentation and one of the highest concentrations of certified entomologists in the industry.

Why Trailer Fumigation
Incoming loads can arrive carrying red flour beetles, Indian meal moth, warehouse beetles, sawtoothed grain beetles, and weevils. Treating the trailer first lets you:
- Quarantine infested loads
- Eliminate pests before unloading
- Salvage valuable product instead of rejecting it
- Prevent cross-contamination of stored commodities
- Reduce the risk of a warehouse-wide infestation
When It Is Used
- Monitoring detects pests in incoming loads
- Raw materials show visible insect activity
- Pet food or flour ingredients are suspect
- Export shipments must be verified pest-free
- Product needs to be salvaged instead of rejected
How Trailer Fumigation Works
FSS primarily uses magnesium phosphide, which generates phosphine gas during exposure. Temperatures should generally be above 60F, exposure runs from a couple of days to about a week depending on conditions, and monitoring verifies concentration before aeration and clearance, achieving control across all insect life stages when applied correctly.
Flexible Service Options
On-site treatment at your facility is often most convenient, with no need to unload or transport product; outdoor yard fumigations are common when temperatures allow. When it is too cold for effective phosphine performance, trailers are treated at an FSS certified facility where temperature requirements can be met.
Compliance, Documentation & Safety
Every job includes a Fumigation Management Plan, monitoring documentation, exposure verification, and clearance confirmation, with proper placarding, secured treatment zones, controlled aeration, and safe re-entry verification, supporting QA review, insurance protection, audit defensibility, and customer confidence.

Pests We Intercept in Inbound Loads
One infested trailer can compromise an entire warehouse. Incoming loads can arrive carrying stored product pests — trailer fumigation isolates and eliminates them before product is unloaded into your facility.
Cost-Competitive Containment
Treating one enclosed semi-trailer is a fraction of the cost of fumigating a warehouse or processing plant. For facilities managing recurring inbound risk, trailer fumigation is a powerful preventive tool.
Faster
Localized treatment of a single enclosed trailer.
More Localized
Contain the problem instead of treating the whole plant.
Less Disruptive
Keep your facility running during treatment.
More Economical
A fraction of the cost of facility-wide fumigation.
Salvage Instead of Reject
When product value is high, rejecting or destroying inventory may not be practical. For food processors and pet food manufacturers, containment prevents small problems from becoming facility-wide events.
Preserve Product Value
Salvage high-value inventory instead of destroying it.
Avoid Disposal Costs
Skip the expense of rejecting and discarding loads.
Maintain Supply Continuity
Keep your supply chain moving.
Protect Downstream Customers
Stop small problems from spreading.
Integrated with Dynamic IPM™
Trailer fumigation is most effective inside a broader Dynamic IPM™ program. Monitoring data may reveal elevated insect pressure in inbound materials, supplier-based contamination trends, or seasonal spikes — and FSS can help you implement a protocol for inspecting and treating inbound loads before they reach main storage.
Why Choose FSS for Trailer Fumigation?
FSS specializes in stored product protection — containing inbound risk before it spreads. We built our brand by protecting yours.
