FSS supplies industry-leading fumigants to licensed fumigators, grain elevators, farmers, warehouse managers, and pest management professionals across the United States.

Restricted Use Pesticides – License Required for Purchase

Licensed Dealer. Nationwide Distribution.

FSS is a licensed pesticide dealer with registrations across most of the continental United States. We verify all fumigation licenses prior to shipment and confirm validity through state databases. We currently distribute fumigants nationwide, with dealer coverage in most continental states.

Before purchasing, a valid fumigation or pesticide applicator license must be on file. Licenses are verified through state systems and all orders are shipped only after compliance confirmation. This protects you — and ensures regulatory compliance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a fumigant, and how does it work?

A fumigant is a pesticide that works as a gas. Once released inside a sealed space, the gas penetrates commodities, equipment, cracks, and other harborage that sprays and dusts cannot reach, controlling every life stage from egg to adult. Because the active ingredient is a gas, the area must stay sealed for a set exposure period and then be safely aerated and cleared with gas monitoring before anyone re-enters.

Do I need a license to buy fumigants?

Yes. The fumigants FSS sells, including aluminum phosphide products such as Weevil-Cide, Fumitoxin, and Phostoxin, are federally Restricted Use Pesticides. They may only be sold to and applied by a certified applicator, or someone working under their direct supervision, who holds the correct category and a current license. FSS verifies your license before any fumigant order is finalized.

What is the difference between aluminum phosphide and sulfuryl fluoride?

Aluminum and magnesium phosphide products react with moisture in the air to release phosphine gas and are sold as tablets, pellets, or bags for grain, commodity, and space fumigation. Sulfuryl fluoride is a compressed-gas fumigant used mainly for structural and commodity work. The best choice depends on the commodity, structure, temperature, and target pest, and our team can help you match the product to the job.

How long does a fumigation take?

Total time depends on the fumigant, temperature, target pest, and how well the space is sealed. Exposure periods commonly range from about a day to several days, followed by a monitored aeration period until gas readings fall below the label safe re-entry level. Warmer temperatures generally speed up both pest control and the reaction of phosphide products.

Are fumigants safe for food and organic facilities?

Applied and aerated according to the label, fumigants leave no significant residue, which is why they are widely used in food plants, mills, and warehouses. Some phosphine applications are also accepted for organic grain storage; always confirm with your certifier and follow the current label. Safe use depends on proper sealing, monitoring, PPE, and aeration by a licensed applicator.

Can I order fumigants online from FSS?

Yes. You can browse and select fumigants through our store, but because they are Restricted Use, the order is not finalized until FSS confirms that your applicator license carries the correct category and is current. We have built our process to make that verification as fast and simple as possible.
