• Stored wheat, barley, rye

Life Cycle

• ~200 eggs per female
• Eggs laid inside individual kernels
• Optimal development: 78–86°F

Why It Matters

• Internal feeder — damages whole kernels
• Leaves round exit holes
• Can cause near-total destruction at high densities
• Contributes to heating and moisture issues

Monitoring & Control

Because larvae develop inside kernels, fumigation is often required for full control.
