The Pests That Threaten Michigan Grain, Beans & Food Plants
Across food and cereal plants, bean and sugar processors, feed mills, elevators, and farm bins, stored-product insects drive the risk. Primary (internal) feeders — the granary, rice, and maize weevils, the lesser grain borer, and the Angoumois grain moth — develop inside sound kernels. Food-facility pests work dust, flour, and finished product: the Indianmeal moth, the sawtoothed grain beetle (one of the most common stored-food insects in Michigan), the red and confused flour beetles, and the cadelle. - Grain fumigation — commercial and terminal-elevator phosphine fumigation (aluminum phosphide and cylinderized VaporPhos®, Eco2Fume®) with recirculation (J-System), verified with gas-concentration monitoring across the grain mass.

Built for audit readiness in Michigan.
