Indiana is the center of FSS operations. Our corporate headquarters is in Westfield, while field service and certified fumigation are run through our Indiana regional office and a dedicated export-fumigation facility serving the Louisville area:

45+ years of stored-product expertise — headquartered right here in Indiana. Founded in 1981, FSS specializes in stored-product protection, not general pest control. We hold one of the highest concentrations of certified entomologists in the industry: 3 Board Certified Entomologists (BCE), 11 Associate Certified Entomologists (ACE), a Ph.D. entomologist, research scientists, and OSHA-authorized trainers. Our team helped pioneer practical alternatives to methyl bromide during the global Montreal Protocol phaseout — work that took our founder around the world as a United Nations methyl-bromide phase-out advisor and earned recognition from the U.S. EPA for leadership in ozone protection — and has trained thousands of grain and food-industry professionals worldwide.

The Pests That Threaten Indiana Grain & Food Plants

Across food plants, feed mills, elevators, and farm bins, the same stored-product complex drives the risk. Primary (internal) feeders — the granary, rice, and maize weevils and the lesser grain borer — develop inside sound kernels and are among the most destructive stored-grain pests. Secondary feeders work broken grain, dust, flour, and finished product: the red and confused flour beetles, sawtoothed grain beetle, and the Indianmeal moth. The Angoumois grain moth deserves special attention in Indiana — it infests stored corn and small grains and is a known pest of stored popcorn, the commodity Indiana leads the nation in. Purdue Extension’s guidance is consistent: sanitation and monitoring come first, with fumigation as the reset when populations are entrenched.

• Grain fumigation — commercial and terminal-elevator phosphine fumigation (aluminum phosphide and cylinderized VaporPhos®, Eco2Fume®) with recirculation (J-System), verified with gas-concentration monitoring across the grain mass.
• USDA/APHIS export fumigation — phytosanitary and pre-shipment treatment for export grain and commodities, including Australian offshore BMSB programs, performed by APHIS-certified applicators from our Indiana locations.

All are backed by gas monitoring and equipment calibration so results are verified, not assumed.

Built for audit readiness in Indiana. Applicators are certified through the Office of the Indiana State Chemist at Purdue University under Category 7D (Fumigation), with a written Fumigation Management Plan on every aluminum/magnesium phosphide job, USDA/APHIS-certified export documentation, and support for FDA FSMA preventive controls and GFSI audits (SQF, BRC).
